About Redistricting

Every 10 years, a group of legislators gets together to redraw the lines of political districts following the new Census. That’s why all Minnesota House and Senate seats are up for election this year.

What redistricting means for YOU, the voter, is that your voting routine might be a little different this year. You may have a new polling place, a new district, and potentially a new group of politicians representing you. It’s possible that the congressperson who has previously represented your district no longer lives in your new district. There may be an incumbent from what used to be a neighboring district running to represent you now, or the seat may be open, with only newcomers running. You can find out who will be on your ballot (and check for familiar names!) here http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/. Just plug in your address, and the site will tell you where to vote, what your new district is, and who’s running to represent you.
